The Dysgraphia Diaries

About
Hi, my name is Arav. I’m in the twelfth grade right now and I’m about to start preparing for my boards and college applications. School has been an interesting journey for me and I will most definitely miss it. One thing I won’t miss, however, will be the lessons. Having to sit still for prolonged periods of time and watch a teacher scribble on the whiteboard is torture.
I was diagnosed with ADHD and Dysgraphia in 2021, but I knew I had those issues years ago. Paying attention has always been a challenge for me. Whether it be daydreaming in class or spacing out while my mum was lecturing me about daydreaming in class, I was always lost. My inability to stay focused has caused me much trouble in my life and I hope to help others with the same problems combat them.
Dysgraphia, while a relatively unknown disorder compared to ADHD, is just as significant. Another one of my biggest issues with classes in school was my inability to take notes properly. My hands would always hurt when I held the pen for very long, and my copies would look untidy with lots of mistakes and erasures.
Now that I’ve established I have the disabilities. I’d like to explain why you should continue reading the articles on this website. In the ninth grade, when school really got hard and the lockdown began, I was struggling. In addition to how hard work got, paying attention was even harder due to the home environment. Yet, upon getting my diagnosis and getting a deeper understanding of my issues, I completely flipped the script and managed to perform extremely well in the tenth grade.
My goal with this website is to help children with learning disorders and their parents, in dealing with their issues by providing them with information about the accommodations they can get from schools and a detailed account of my problems and how I overcame them.
